An early look at the forecast indicates a colder, showery day than of late for Saturday so fingers crossed the weather doesn’t intervene ahead of the eagerly-anticipated first game of the 2011 league. In a bold move, Brockwell have named their team in advance, allowing us to set game plans for the individual batsmen – I expect these will be broadly along the lines of “don’t give away too many wides and keep any full tosses below the waist”. After an encouraging net session last Sunday, let’s hope that the rain stays away, that memories of last year’s first game can be erased and that Calypso can start the season on the front foot with a strong display. In other news, a date of 27th July has been pencilled in for an evening T20 game at Parliament Hill so put it in your diary pending confirmation.
